How to download your Instagram data
Instagram gives every account a full copy of its own information — followers, following, and much more. Here’s how to request it on each device, and which options to pick so you get the follower data that tools like Unfollo need.
iPhone
- If the button didn't open it: in Instagram tap Menu (≡) → Settings and activity → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information.
- Tap Download or transfer information → your account → Some of your information.
- Under Connections, tick only “Followers and following”.
- Set Download to device, All time, and Format JSON.
- Tap Create files. Instagram emails you when it's ready.
Android
- If the button didn't open it: in Instagram tap Menu (≡) → Settings and activity → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information.
- Tap Download or transfer information → your account → Some of your information.
- Under Connections, tick only “Followers and following”.
- Set Download to device, All time, and Format JSON.
- Tap Create files. Instagram emails you when it's ready.
Desktop
- On the page that opens, sign in to Instagram if asked (on Instagram's own site — never give your password to anyone else).
- Click Download or transfer information → your account → Some of your information.
- Under Connections, tick only “Followers and following”.
- Set Download to device, All time, and Format JSON.
- Click Create files. Instagram emails you when it's ready.
Tips
- Pick JSON format — it includes the dates people followed you, which HTML exports lack.
- Selecting only “Followers and following” keeps the file small and your upload private-by-default.
- Instagram emails you when the file is ready; timing varies. The download link comes from Instagram, not from any third party.
